Gloria

Sufjan Stevens is at it again with another 5 disc Christmas album for us to lush over. Last year I posted about his first venture into holiday music, which over the years has become a Christmas staple of mine.  This November he released Silver & Gold, a continuation of his previous 5 disc effort which picks up with the owl adorned volume titled ‘Gloria’. Like the previous release, this new set is packed to the brim with goodies like stickers, temporary tattoos, a paper ornament, photos, posters, lyrics & chords, and even graphic designs by the man himself. I have linked to one of my favorite tracks off the new set, ‘Carol of St. Benjamin The Bearded One’ below.

I hope you enjoy!

Music Break

Wow. What a week.

I just recently started a new job doing web support, and without saying too much, it has really been putting me through the wringer. I don’t think I’ve ever been happier to see a Friday, and it’s ‘casual’ to boot!

Now that content has picked up with everyone’s favorite holiday just around the corner, I thought I would bring back the weekly avian themed musical interlude of days gone by. This week I present Computer Vs. Banjo- Give Up On Ghosts. Advice I should heed myself.

Enjoy!

In light of her recent arrest, I thought it would only be fitting to bring back the Friday ‘music break’ trend in an effort to show some support for one of my absolute favorite artists and one of the best months on the ever dwindling calendar.

I typically only post avian themed or holiday related songs, but this particular tune means a lot to me, and I hope you give it a listen and enjoy the imagery and emotion her music tends to invoke.

Music Break

I have always had a love affair with The Weepies, but this video for Little Bird managed to completely escape my radar until recently. It appears to be an unofficial/fan video, and I have been completely unsuccessful at finding any information on the animation but I absolutely had to share this for the next music break. The song is wonderful on it’s own but the inspiring animation it is set to really completes the package. If anyone has any information on the animation please let me know!

Music Break

I needed a palate cleanser after the last post, so here is a ‘music break’ to wash away any unfortunate images of an owl cut in half. Taken from the Nested playlist, ‘Bird Song’ by Florence + The Machine is a great avian themed tune with a lot of energy behind it, which is certainly something I need as this busy work week comes to a close. Enjoy!

Music Break

I haven’t been doing many music posts now that the main holidays have passed us by, but that won’t stop me from sharing the occasional musical update every now and then to help ease the burden of the ending work week. I am so ready for the weekend by the time Friday rolls around that I swear the only thing that gets me through those final hours is a constant stream of tunes from Pandora. This week I’m sharing ‘Steps and Numbers’ by the falcon friendly band The Appleseed Cast (seriously, they have an album titled ‘Peregrine‘).

Until next time!

Music Break

Taken from our Winter playlist, this haunting gem by Ray LaMontagne is perfect for our bi-weekly musical post. I find myself in need of a reminder that there is warmth at the end of this frozen season, and this song does just that. Enjoy.
