Happy Valentines Day from The Christmas Owl! We certainly hope you have a wonderful lover’s holiday and take the time today to remind the special people in your life just how much they mean to you. Even for the single, there is still fun to be had on a day like today. From kid’s parties to cupcakes at the office, there is something redeemable in this holiday even for those with the blackest of hearts. I just hope you were spared those awful conversation heart candy. Bleck!

For this week’s music break I wanted to share the title song from another one of my favorite tv specials from days gone by. The Snowman is an animated film based off the book of the same name by Raymond Briggs. Like the book, the film features no words except for the amazing ‘Walking In The Air” which is sung by Peter Autry. When you take in to account this was made in 1982, the animation really is stunning. Enjoy the whimsical journey of a boy and his snowman as they take flight below:

Time to start decorating! I have already snuck a few things out of storage to get myself in the Christmas spirit, but I’m saving the tree and outside decor for after Thanksgiving. This weekend I plan on converting a fall wreath I made into a Christmas one, and while looking for inspiration I came across these two owl friendly wreaths by Horns Homemade. This is absolutely charming. It’s rare to see such heartfelt advertisements these days, and I immediately fell in love with this ad featuring a Smiths cover of ‘Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want’ by Slow Moving Millie. If there’s one thing I love more than The Smiths, it’s Christmas. Warm your heart with this lovely advert from UK based John Lewis after the break.
